here in Granada.

We see Jimmy everyday to discuss about Jimmy The Man Tours

The donations will be used to do a big promotional

Hola!

As some of you may know a few days ago Jimmy
went on his first tour with 7 backpackers
from Hospedaje la Libertad!
We went to the Volcan Mombacho and did
some horsebackriding at the famers cooperative
of the UCA Tierra y Agua!

Hola amigos!

Today we can present a new episode from Granada, Nicaragua!
Here it's really hot, sometimes difficult to even think ;)
With Jimmy and us it's all going really fine!
Last Tuesday we did Jimmy's first tour to the volcano Mombacho
and some horsebackriding at the farmers!
Some kickass footage will be released soon!

It was Jimmy first (!) time driving at dark in Nicaragua and all the way to Managua seemed quite the challenge. And of course the ride didnt quite go as expected..

We survived! We arrived in Granada, Nicaragua last night!
After a long flight, and a stop in Panama...we got in Managua
around 20.00 PM at night!

The big question of us was, is Jimmy going to be at the airport as
he promised ?

Well the moment is finally there, we are going back to Nicaragua!
To help out Jimmy setting up his tourcompany, and to do a lot of promotion
and bring you video's of all this.
And of course to make some funky vid's of Jimmy's tours!

We are really excited, so we will keep you posted from Granada,
with a daily uncut video, you can find here on this BLOG!

We will arrive in Nicaragua, the 4th of November at night!

We made it! €758 within 24hours donated for Jimmy The Man Tours on the 1%club platform!

The title says it all! We want to thank everybody at the 1%club
and of course all their members! Because something happened
that we never could expect.The goal was to get the project full
within 24hours!

But within 20hours our goal on the 1%club platform
was already achieved. See it here for all you dutchies!

The money that was donated here will be used
to costumize and pimp up the 4x4 truck
before it will hit the road!
We still have to find a good truck, but
there are a lot for sale right now
Jimmy and I noticed when I was there in July.
They have to be costumized though, making it safe for tourists
to go on a tour with Jimmy The Man!

So.. we finally got it together and are now online, kicking and going for a new record!

Back in Hollandia

Right now I'am back in Holland after a great time with Jimmy The Man in Nicaragua.
There's a lot of nice new material I shot there.

For exemple:
Jimmy's doing a tour to the rural families of the UCA Tierra y Agua around Granada, we are going to work closely with them in the future. So they can also profit from the tourist that visit Granada. Really cool to be back there, really nice people and a beautiful scenery!

Right now we are enjoying the summer days here.

to check out the baseball match between Granada and Estelli!
This is one of the events you can check out
with Jimmy The Man Tours! Baseball is the sport nr1.
here in Nicaragua, so imagine the atmosphere in the stadium!

Today Jimmy and I went into the city, to shoot some really cool footage around the historical centre of this amazing place, Granada!

Back in Nicaragua after 1.5 years! Surprise for Jimmy The Man!

Hey there!

After finishing a documentary in Ecuador a few days ago, I am now back in Nicaragua! Being so close, I just had to check out on Jimmy The Man, see how he is doing. And also see what I can do here now to be sure the tourcompany will be a succes in the future to come!

In the meantime Daan stays in Holland to be sure everything is takin care of at the HeadQuarters of The Solotrekkers Foundation. He is needed in Holland, check out the NOS-item, and you will know what I mean. ;)

So here I am, back in Granada. And it's great to be back here after 1.5 years.
Jimmy doesn't know I am here yet. How 's he going to react ?
And how does the Jimmy the Man Tours shirt will look on the Man himself ?

1%Event - verslag

Afgelopen vrijdag 5 juni, was het dan zover.
Een event in Pakhuis de Zwijger over de mogelijkheden en
kansen van WEB 2.0 (Social media, Facebook, Hyves, Twitter etc.) binnen Ontwikkelingssamenwerking.

Doordat het vertrouwen van mensen in de grote ontwikkelings- organisaties enorm is afgenomen in de afgelopen jaren, worden juist de kleinere, particuliere initiatieven populair.
Bovendien kan er door de huidige mogelijkheden van het internet een erg persoonlijk contact ontstaan tussen de donateurs, de projectleiders
en de mensen in de ontwikkelingslanden zelf!

Nou goed, zo waren er dus verschillende sessies met zeer inspirerende mensen.
Zoals Kisten Verdel die mee werkte aan de Obama campagne.
Bennett Grassano van Kiva (online microcrediet platform, halen per jaar 20 miljoen euro op online!)

Jimmy The Man Tours & Ruud Lubbers doet shout-out!

Wij waren uitgenodigd om ons project Jimmy The Man Tours te pitchen
en om een aantal reportages te maken van het Event.
Van te voren hadden we onze speciale Jimmy The Man shirts laten maken, en
een microfoon blok met daarop onze Stichting en de kop van Jimmy ;)

Wij hebben vershillende mensen geinterviewd waaronder Hans Dijkstal en Ruud Lubbers, die na het interview ook nog een shout-out deed voor Jimmy the Man, jawel!!

Wat ik heel leuk vind is dat ontwikkelingssamenwerking op de 2.0 manier ineens weer heel leuk en hip wordt omdat het gebruikt maakt van de huidige internet technieken en daardoor ook een jongere generatie kan aanspreken.Dit is namelijk ook altijd ons doel geweest met Jimmy The Man Tours, om een jongere doelgroep aan te spreken en ervoor te zorgen dat zij zich betrokken voelen bij projecten, zoals de onze.

Het was erg fijn en inspirerend om ons steentje bij te dragen aan deze dag, en onderdeel te zijn van de nieuwe beweging binnen Ontwikkelings samenwerking.
Ben zelf erg benieuwd hoe zich dit verder gaat ontwikkelen....

Getting ready for the 1% Event

Hey there,

Friday the 5th of June, we are going be at Pakhuis de Zwijger, for the 1%Event.
A big convention is organised, and all day long there are going
to be keynote speakers talking about developing aid 2.0.

Bennett Grassano (Kiva), Kirsten Verdel (Obama campaign), Ruud Lubbers (Worldconnectors)and many more are going to be there!

We are also invited and going to be there, as the Solotrekkers Foundation.
You will recongnise us in our funky Jimmy The Man shirts ;)

Equipped with our laptop and camera we want to make some sweet reports and cover this event.

And being there we also want to try and shoot a mega-shout-out with at least 100 people
for Jimmy The Man. Let's see if we can!

Are you going to be there too ? Would be sweet! See you there than.

Hey there!!

Some good news from The Man in Granada, Nicaragua!
After a lot of drivinglessons..he got it! Jimmy The Man got his drivinglicense!
Jimmy wants to thank everybody for their support!

He really improved his drivingstyles, because remember his first lesson ?

Jimmy had his first tour!

Some breaking news from Granada, Nicaragua.
A few days ago, Jimmy took a group of six Canadians on a short tour!
Because he doesn't have a truck yet, he took the travellers on a tour to Masaya, and to the Laguna the Apoyo. All by chicken-bus of course!
We heard he did well, and Jimmy himself was pretty excited too!
Hope to bring you some footage about this one, Soon!

Finally...The Launch!

Hey everybody!

We are happy that, after a few months of hard work, we can finally
present our latest project to you all! After working in Nicaragua
for almost six months, we decided to start a Foundation.
This Foundation is all about helping eager young people with talents
and capacities in developing countries. Jimmy The Man Tours is one
of the first projects we are presenting here. We hope that through online interaction between you, and us(Jaap,Daan&Jimmy) you will be interested in following the process of realizing Jimmy's dream, through our weekly episodes!

If u want to support Jimmy the Man Tours, than please
SPREAD THE WORD. Tell all your friends about this website! Because the more hits we get, the better!

Because Jimmy is going to work together with big farmers cooperatives,over a hundred rural families will benefit from his travellers. His work will have a so called domino effect on the whole community. One of these cooperatives is the UCA tierra y agua. Below you can see a short promo we made for them while working in Nicaragua. It will give you a good idea of what they are about and how the farming community can also benefit from Jimmy's travellers.
